The essential purpose of Body Logic Dance is to create performance and choreographic opportunities for professional level dancers, as a means to further our development as we integrate our talents and passions into the dance community. We will seek out opportunities to extend our innovative art to a far-reaching spectrum of audiences, as performances and teaching opportunities will be given in various community venues. As we supply this opportunity to the public, we aim to enlighten, inform, provoke, and uplift. We strive to fascinate and inspire, to entertain and indulge. In this noble education, Body Logic Dance endeavors to enrich society by bridging the gaps between art and life.
About the Company Body Logic Dance Company (BLDC) is a 501c non-profit professional dance company, and was founded by Utah Valley University Alumni in 2009. BLDC is under the direction of Artistic Director Serena Webb and Assistant Artistic Director Melanie Ewell Francom. Since 2009, the company has expanded to include graduates from other Universities. BLDC has two concerts per year, one in the fall and another in the spring. They will be hosting their second annual Choreography Dance Festival November 2017. It will feature choreography from both professional and semi-professional choreographers. BLDC's vision is to allow people who are passionate about dance as an art the opportunity to continue educating and immersing themselves in a craft they love and treasure.
Body Logic Company members take class and rehearse Monday/Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Their technique classes are highly influenced by the techniques of Graham, Limon', Horton, and Cunningham. Choreography is created by staff and company members, as well as guests chosen by the directors.
