It’s happening... Are you coming? BLDFestival 2018
Calling all Dancers, all last minute deal-doers, any of you it’s been awhile kind of movers... whatever the case, stop what you're doing and register for this year’s dance festival. Dance all day taking master classes from some of Utah’s best dancers/instructors. Start the day off with classes from Body Logic’s Co-Artistic Director Serena Webb. Serena starts us off with a Modern class with a primary focus on Merce Cunningham technique. She has been busy behind the scenes in preparation for the big day and is excited to take a break from that to teach at the festival this year. We then take it up a few notches with Izzy Arrieta at the helm. With his natural groove and his contemporary flair, he is sure to be a festive favorite. Next, Mrs. Chelsea Budge will be in the studio and you better be ready to give it your all! She is adored by many dancers and her classes are always a hit and in high demand. Closing up this year's festival is Samba Fogo’s own fierce director Lorin Hansen. She is known as one of Salt Lake City Weekly’s best dancers and teaches all over the state of Utah. She is sharing her knowledge of Brazilian-style techniques. Be ready to get down and did we mention their would be live drumming!! Squeeeee, we can’t wait either!!

What’s an adjudication concert? Well, first hand and in person is the best way to find out for yourself. According to Webster’s Dictionary adjudicate is defined as: to act as judge. And that is pretty much what our adjudicators will be doing. They will observe, analyze, and interpret the works they see. They will be watching with very specific criteria pertaining to dance choreography and performance. The adjudicators will then give this feedback to the choreographers live and in front of our audience. We offer this unique experience to our viewers as a way to inform them of ways they can ”see” dance and interpret what the artist is saying or what impact it has on them as a viewer. At the end of the night, the adjudicators will deliberate and determine which work was executed with high proficiency in both choreography and performance and the choreographer will be crowned our 2018 festival winner! But that is not all...YOU have the chance to award one lucky choreographer with our new audience choice award! So come on out and support these amazing choreographers and dancers!!
